Mural Map USA is a community-powered directory of public murals across all 50 states — built to document, celebrate, and preserve public art before it disappears.
Our mission
Public murals are ephemeral. They get painted over, demolished, or just forgotten — and when they're gone, there's often no record they ever existed.
We're building the largest community-verified mural database in the country. Every submission gets a location, photos, and an artist credit when one is known. Every mural can be verified "still up" by someone who visits in person.
The result is a living map that stays accurate because the community keeps it that way.
Why we built this
There was no single place to find murals across the US. Local arts councils track some. Instagram has photos with vague location tags. Google Maps has a fraction. None of them talk to each other.
We wanted something searchable by city, by state, by artist, by style — with real coordinates and a photo that wasn't taken six years ago. So we built it.
How it works
Anyone can submit a mural — just add the location, a photo, and whatever you know about the artist. Takes about two minutes.
Community members who visit a mural in person can mark it "still up" or flag it as removed. Verifications keep the map current.
Browse by state, city, or artist. Find murals near you on the map. Follow cities you love and get notified when new murals are added.

- Interactive map — Mapbox-powered map with clustering, filters, and "murals near me"
- Points & badges — earn points for submitting and verifying, unlock badges for milestones
- City leaderboards — see which cities have the most verified murals and the most active contributors
- Capture missions — weekly challenges to find and photograph specific murals in your area
- Artist profiles — dedicated pages for mural artists with their full portfolio on the map
