Anacostia
East of the river, Anacostia's murals document a community with a proud and complicated history — from Frederick Douglass's home on Cedar Hill to the neighborhood's role in the civil rights movement and its ongoing fight for investment and recognition. The walls here are unapologetically local.

Nigerian-American muralist based in DC. His Anacostia works are considered among his most personal — large-scale portraits of neighborhood elders and community leaders rendered with warmth and precision that commands attention from blocks away.
Byron Peck
Peck's "River of Life" on Good Hope Rd was created through a six-week community workshop with Anacostia High School students. The mural depicts the Anacostia River's ecological and human history through the eyes of the young people who live beside it.
Cita Sadeli
Known across DC for her vibrant, textile-influenced patterns, Sadeli's Anacostia work deliberately adopts a more figurative approach — a tribute to the community's children painted in collaboration with local families and the Anacostia Arts Center.
