Amy Cook

Musician / artist ยท Austin

Austin-based singer-songwriter who spray-painted "I Love You So Much" on the side of Jo's Coffee on South Congress in 2010 as a declaration to her then-partner. The simple message has become one of Austin's most-visited and most-photographed public artworks โ€” a quiet miracle of accidental permanence.

Daniel Johnston

Outsider artist & musician ยท Austin (1961โ€“2019)

Legendary Austin outsider artist and musician whose iconic "Hi, How Are You?" frog โ€” originally painted on the wall of a Guadalupe Street record store in 1993 โ€” became a global symbol of Austin's DIY spirit. Kurt Cobain wore a Daniel Johnston t-shirt on MTV Unplugged, bringing worldwide attention. The frog, named Jeremiah the Innocent, still stands.

Todd Sanders

Neon & vintage art ยท South Austin

Austin entrepreneur and co-founder of Roadhouse Relics, a shop dedicated to hand-crafted neon signs and vintage art. The "Greetings from Austin" postcard mural on his building's exterior โ€” co-created with artist Rory Skagen in 2007 โ€” has become one of Texas's most recognizable public artworks and a defining image of Austin's character.
